Welcome Home App
“Welcome Home” is a social media-style app that allows people to get acclimated to a new city, find new hobbies in the area, and connect with other locals.
Overview:
This app combines the online communication functions of neighborhood apps currently on the market with advice-sharing posts in the style of a social media platform. The picture-intensive layout and fresh aesthetics make it exciting to use and explore. The objective of this app is to make moving more exciting, and help new inhabitants feel welcomed into their new community. It can also be a fun activity for friends, couples, and families to participate in together.
Design Process:
The project begins with thorough user research (personas and user interviews/ surveys) to establish the brand's language, goals, and vision. I then conducted comprehensive competitive analysis to analyze other social media apps, neighborhood apps, and travel apps. I also facilitated design planning and research (mood boards, style guides, artifact boards) to establish their brand language and gain inspiration for the next phase of development. Using this research, I create low-fidelity wireframes to gather feedback and assess the user experience before moving forward (A/B testing, focus groups, surveys).
Collaborating closely with my prospective users, I refined the wireframes into high-fidelity designs and an interactive prototype in Adobe XD. I ensured to design with mobile-centric design practices, and tested the adaptability of the prototype with different sizes of mobile phones.
